We have really benefited from being a part of a close community here in Rock Hill. The mission statement for our church is “Pursuing the Good, True, and Beautiful of Jesus for the flourishing of Rock Hill”. Last night in a membership class we talked about that mission statement and what our thoughts were about it. I said that I had never known of a church’s mission statement that included the word “beautiful” in it—I could point to other mission statements with “good” and “truth” in them, but not “beautiful”. This is a statement artists can get behind. We are privileged to have a very encouraging church community into which we can be real and active as we minister to and through the arts. Our heart is to speak into the Church as to the potency of the Arts and to speak into the Art world as to the home that the Church can be. We have certainly begun to find a platform for this in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church plant called Hill City Church.

The pastors of our church (Hill City) have a podcast on helping people become better “Gospel neighbors” so that they too can pursue Jesus for the flourishing of their communities. I was excited to sit down for a short time with them to talk about what Sarah and I do and how we try to be better neighbors of Jesus’ gospel. Enjoy.
